Out of all the pages of this comic series that have been made so far, this one is my favourite for several reasons:

1) The ambiguity of the cat's behaviour. In particular, its expression in the first panel made me wonder if it has malevolent or predatory intentions towards the infant. 'Hard ta tell with cats' indeed.

Also, I love how you revealed that it was lying next to Tallix all along and taking no notice of her whatsoever, and still refused to when it plucked Xzar out of the canal.

2) Xzar makes his first appearance in this page, and as expected he is at this point a very, very, very long way from becoming what he is now. The 'Ah?' in the second panel made me realize that he was not doubly frightened at being picked up and carried away.

3) Tallix and Montaron alone would have made this awesome, but as always you just had to make it better with their dialogue. You are making halflings one of my favourite medieval fantasy races.

The sign on the door confirms it; the Snapdragon family lives, or at least at this point lived at Zhentil Keep. This fact alone would almost be enough to explain why both of them turned out the way they are.

It seems that at this early point, Tallix already knows that her life and occupation is a bleak and cold one, and has attempted more than once to dissuade Montaron from following in her footsteps. Makes me wonder what she had, and what she lost, to have come to this revelation.

Also, I believe I may have caught some motivation for why, despite knowing how cruel and miserable it is, she still continued to make money out of contract-killing; to support her family so they won't have to live at Zhentil Keep.

She is correct to call Montaron a young fool; all he could see is the money, and not what the life and job has done to her. He seems to look up to her and sees her life as something to admire and follow. Now I am even more curious as to how their relationship developed when he joined the Zhentarim and became an assassin.

Also, it seems like both of them are already sociopathic at this point, judging from their casual reactions to a giant cat carrying off a baby. They have both seen worse.

All this combined with the persistently bleak atmosphere, which is slightly punctuated with Tallix's relaxed demeanor, makes this my favourite page of this comic series so far.
